to the Department of Pharmacology, Toxicology and Neuroscience!

A major emphasis of the Department is in the areas of neuropharmacology, neuroscience, and toxicology, with research in:
• drug and alcohol addiction research
• stress
• neurotransmitter receptor function
• oxidative mechanisms of toxicity
• molecular regulation of toxicity and apoptosis
• gene therapy
• carcinogenesis and cancer chemoprevention

The Department offers graduate programs of study in neuroscience and toxicology and maintains an NIH training grant for its program of study in drug and alcohol addiction research.

In the Spotlight...
Prasad Krishnan received the Graduate Student Travel Award from ASPET (American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics) to attend the Experimental Biology'09 meeting at New Orleans from April18-22, 2009.

At the Experimetnal Biology meeting, Prasad Krishnan's poster got the 3rd prize in the poster competition conducted by ANS (The American Society for Nutrition ) in the "Diet and Cancer section". This poster competition was sponsored by Coca-Cola Inc.
Congratulations to Vinita Batra was a recipient of a travel award to the International Narcotics Research Conference in Charleston SC. Vinita presented a poster on her latest research entitled "Oxycodone Associated Pica Behavior".

Congratulations Alok Khandelwal  for winning the "Best Poster in the Pre-Proposal Category” at Graduate Research Day.  Great job!
